Silver Clay Academy

In the Autumn of 2017 I attended a weekend workshop to learn how to make keepsake finger print jewellery, something I had wanted to try for such a long time. It was on this course that I discovered Silver clay. I was mesmerised how this dull grey lump of clay could be transformed as if by magic to a thing of beauty. I was hooked and knew my future was in Metal clay!

I started to make silver keepsake jewellery for family and friends, and soon after I started experimenting with what else I could create with this fabulous material. Inspired by the beautiful Berkshire countryside surrounding my home I designed and launched my own jewellery brand - Jewellery By Emma Roy.

In my first year I won a place at the Country Living Magazine Spring fair , pop up market at the Alexandria Palace.

In 2020 was chosen by  Cooksongold to appear on their blog called the Bench as the Designer of the month for June.

Later the same year  I entered the Alliance of Metal clay Artists Worldwide challenge titled Man, Myth and Legend. I felt so honoured to win the People's Choice category for the little fairy-door pendant ,that I had designed for the competition, complete with a little working door knocker.

I love learning new techniques and the possibilities to create things with silver clay is literally endless.

I have taken lots of online Silver clay workshops and in early 2022  I completed my Art Clay Diploma, levels 1 & 2 with a view to work towards my higher level qualification as soon as I can. This will enable me to teach the prestigious Art Clay Diploma myself, for those who wish to further their silver clay knowledge and gain a recognised qualification.

I love to help others, and have wanted to teach silver clay workshops since I first discovered it. After many years of working with Silver clay, attending countless online training and now a formal qualification, I am overjoyed to be able to share my passion with you.

As time progresses I will be adding more courses including some more advanced skills for those who like me have caught the metal clay bug and want to learn more, or who knows maybe to gain the skills to design your very own range of jewellery? The courses will include intermediate and advanced skills such as ring making  adding gold and colour to metal clay and will be added to my website later this year.

Thank you for reading my journey this far with metal clay. I would be delighted and honoured to be part of your journey, and  have you along to one of my Silver Clay workshops.
