Course details

Learn how to make your own beautiful rings from silver clay. On this full day workshop, you will learn how to make a flat band ring and D- band ring from fine silver to take home with you. Previous experience with Silver clay is recomended for this workshop, but not essential.  

Places are limited to 6.

Level: Beginner- Intermediate

Timings: 10am – 5pm

Class Outline

In this  workshop, you will learn the skills required to make beautiful rings from metal clay, and how to continue making at home if you wish.  During the workshop you will learn all about Silver Clay, and what makes it such an awesome material to work with.

After a brief introduction to Silver clay and what to expect on the workshop, 

You will then be taken step by step through the some of  different techniques you can use to make rings from silver clay. including how to measure and allow for shrinkage of the clay.

The workshop includes 20g of  lump silver clay, to be divided in to 10g  for each of the ring projects.

What you will learn.

On this fantastic intermediate course, you will learn how to make two styles of rings- a flat band ring and a  D-Band ring.

You will learn methods to dry your pieces and how to safely fire your creations in a kiln.

Once fired you will be shown how to get your silver rings beautiful and shiny.

When your pieces are made you will also be given a little jewellery box take away your beautiful new rings in.

On this workshop you will be guided, step by step and learn the following skills:

• Handling and how to store the clay.
• Rolling the clay out to get an even finish.
• How to shape and cut the clay.
• How to measure your rings to allow for shrinkage.
• How to make 2 styles of rings, A flat band and a D-band ring.
• How to add textures to your rings.
• How to  and embellishments on your rings 
• How to set Cubic Ziconia's on your rings.
• How to dry and refine your pieces
• Kiln and firing method.
• How to Polish and finish your pieces

Please note due to time restrictions we will not be making open band rings or bezel set  stones ( semi precious  stones in bezel or claw settings after firing.) We will however be covering how to add a little sparkle with special fireable cubic zirconia.
